This wasn't bad, but it could have been better. I did appreciate that it took a more nuanced than usual approach to explaining the sexual mores of the time. Rubenhold didn't just take at face value the protestations against sex outside marriage, but looked at how things really worked in practics. Aimed at a popular audience, so a bit light on substance and meat, and the writing wasn't great. But a pleasant read.
